1000 Picture Books in 2016~October

I have 161 picture books to go to complete the 1000 Picture Books in 2016 Reading Challenge! I discovered a new favorite wordless picture book this month (Hank Finds an Egg) as well as a new favorite interactive book (Tap the Magic Tree). I am a huge fan of Oliver Jeffers. His new book (A Child of Books) has an incredible message with mind-blowing art. Jane Yolen’s newest book (What to Do With a Box) is also brilliant. Happy reading!

Visit my January-September posts for Goodreads links to the picture books I’ve read in 2016.

  1. Tap the Magic Tree interests me. Love the box book and those photos are so great. Kids do love boxes. I would like to try this challenge myself. Was it hard to do? Maybe 2017 is the year for me!

    1. Tap the Magic Tree is super fun. It goes through the seasons. Tap the tree to grow leaves and blossoms. Blow the tree a kiss to make the leaves fall etc. All kids love boxes :). The challenge has been great for me as an aspiring picture book writer. And my kiddos love all the trips we take to the library. Definitely go for it in 2017!

  2. What to do with the box. That’s one I’ll look for. When my kids were growing up we had fabulous fun making boxes into houses, doll houses, stage coaches etc. Hank find an egg is also intriguing. I shall look for these for my grandson! Thank you!
